I understand that horseback riding, handling horses, mounting, dismounting, and related equine activities involve inherent risks, including falls, collisions, kicks, bites, sudden or unpredictable animal behavior, terrain, weather, equipment use, and the acts or reactions of other animals or participants. I voluntarily assume the inherent risks associated with participation.
To the fullest extent permitted by Colorado law, I release and hold harmless Big Country Equestrian Adventures, its owners, employees, guides, contractors, and agents from claims, liabilities, demands, actions, or causes of action arising from participation, except to the extent liability cannot lawfully be waived.
Honest representation of skill and experience. I agree to accurately and honestly describe my riding ability, prior horse experience, physical limitations, and relevant knowledge before mounting or handling an equine. I understand that Big Country Equestrian Adventures may rely on those representations when selecting an equine, tack, route, pace, or activity appropriate for me.
Duty to maintain reasonable control. I agree to make reasonable efforts to maintain control of the equine assigned to me and to immediately tell staff if I feel unable to safely control, mount, dismount, or continue riding the animal.
Following safety instructions. I agree to follow the direct safety instructions of Big Country Equestrian Adventures staff and to refrain from intentionally spooking, striking, provoking, abusing, or otherwise engaging in conduct reasonably likely to endanger an equine, myself, another participant, staff member, or property.
Care of equipment and property. I agree to use saddles, bridles, helmets, tack, and other provided equipment only as instructed and not to intentionally or recklessly damage ranch property or equipment.
I acknowledge that Big Country Equestrian Adventures staff offered me a riding helmet as additional safety equipment, explained that wearing a helmet may reduce the risk or severity of certain head injuries, and gave me the opportunity to choose freely whether to wear one.
Fitness and sobriety attestation. I certify that I am not under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, intoxicating cannabis, misused prescription medication, or any other substance that could materially impair my judgment, balance, coordination, reaction time, perception, or ability to safely participate in equine activities. I agree not to participate if I become impaired or unable to ride safely.
I have read and understand this release, the Colorado equine activity warning, the participant responsibilities above, and the helmet acknowledgment, and I agree to follow all safety rules and staff instructions.
Photography, promotional use, and privacy acknowledgmentI understand and agree that Big Country Equestrian Adventures may photograph or record ranch activities and may use images or video it creates for its own website, social media, advertising, and promotional materials. Big Country Equestrian Adventures will not sell or license participant photos or video to outside parties for their independent use.
Big Country Equestrian Adventures will make reasonable efforts to respect participant privacy. If I tell the ranch before the activity that I do not want to be featured, the ranch will make reasonable efforts to avoid using images in which I am clearly identifiable, while recognizing that incidental appearance in group or background images may not always be avoidable.
